About Us

Salaputia Brass, a brass quintet, which consists of five members of the national youth orchestra of Germany – Peter Doerpinghaus, trumpet (Wipperfürth); Lukas Reiß , trumpet (Baden-Baden); Felix Baur, French horn (Heilbronn); Aaron Stilz, trombone (Ludwigsburg); Joel Zimmermann, tuba (Ansbach). SALAPUTIA BRASS’ repertoire (latin for little- or horny fellow) ranges from baroque to the modern music, also including  the so-called crossover. Numerous own arrangements as well as compositions (of Peter Doerpinghaus) belong to the ensemble’s repertoire. 

The Ensemble won a first prize at the national competition “Jugend Musiziert” in 2008. Following this the quintet gave concerts as scholarship holder at events of the German Music Foundation “Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben” in Hamburg, Sylt and in Washington D.C.. In the same year the ensemble entered the international Competition for Brass Instrument Ensembles in Passau, and received the third prize. In 2009, as a guest of the Goethe Institute Mexico City, Salaputia Brass played concerts at the 25th Festival del centro historico in Mexico-City.
